Writing a Written Component for an Artistic Doctoral Degree: Length

This guide provides instructions for preparing the written component of an artistic doctorate at the Sibelius Academy.

Length of Written Component

Minimum: 100,000 characters (about 50 pages, 1 page is about 2000 characters)

Maximum: 200,000 characters (about 100 pages of text)

NB. These are general recommendations. The length of the written component should always be agreed with the supervisor beforehand.
