ORCID iD identifies you persistently, and ensures your research outputs and activities are correctly attributed to you (e.g. changes in your affiliation do not affect your ORCID iD). It automates the movement of information between you (and your activities and publications) and various systems used by publishers, funders, organizations and other services. Many publishers and funders have already integrated ORCID iD to their systems and processes, and have started to mandate it from researchers. Uniarts Helsinki recommends that researchers start using ORCID iD and add it to their publications. See below how to connect your ORCID iD with Uniarts services such as UniartsCRIS.
ORCID is a digital identifier developed by the international researcher community with which a researcher can be identified clearly, quickly, and easily. ORCID is a non-profit organization which aims to create an international researcher identification system which can be used by researchers, scientific publishers, funders, and organization administrations alike. Uniarts Helsinki is a member organization.
It only takes a moment to register for an ORCID iD. See instructions below.
Find out more about ORCID iD on ORCID's pages or the Finnish researcher identifier website (in English).
Registering your ORCID iD takes only a few minutes. You are in charge of your ORCID record: you will be able to update or add information or give other systems permission to do so. Below is more detailed information about the registration.
After completing these fields, click the Register button at the bottom of the page:
In most cases you will be taken to your new ORCID record, but sometimes, if one or more records with an identical name already exist in ORCID registry, you will be shown a list and prompted to check that none of them are yours. If you have never used ORCID before, then it is very unlikely that any of the listed individuals are you and you can click the “None of these are me – continue to registration” button to get your ORCID iD.
After submitting you will receive a confirmation email to verify your email address (also check your spam or junk folder).

You can connect your ORCID iD to Uniarts ID service, and import your ORCID iD to your profile in UniartsCRIS. From UniartsCRIS researchers' publication data is exported to national publication information service and from there to Research.fi portal. Your ORCID iD travels with your publication information. An upcoming feature in the Uniarts-ORCID-integration will allow your publication information to be automatically exported from UniartsCRIS to your ORCID record.
Connect your ORCID iD at https://password.uniarts.fi > ORCID ID connect.
Works are your research outputs, including publications, data sets, conference presentations, and more. While it is possible to add works manually, ORCID recommends that you permit trusted organizations to add/update this information to add and update them for you - look for the green iD icon next time you submit a paper, book chapter, or book. Allowing trusted organizations to add information to your record ensures the data connected with your ORCID iD is authoritative and trustworthy, as well as saving you time entering information manually.
There are four ways to add works to your ORCID record yourself:

ORCID iD is attached to publications in UniartsCRIS and from there it goes to the national Research.fi portal.
The author's ORCID iD is part of the article's metadata and goes from the publisher to various bibliographic databases. ORCID iD is attached to the publication record already at submission stage.
ORCID iD can be linked with other researcher identifiers (Scopus Author Identifier, Web of Science ResearcherID), which allows authors to import publication information to their ORCID record from Scopus and Web of Science.
ORCID iD can be used like a signature on author's webpage, blogs, social media, CVs and e-mail.
ORCID iD enables researchers to maintain a list of publications in ORCID throughout their career, even if their affiliation, location or even name changes.
There are other researcher identifiers and you can synchronize them. Uniarts supports and helps with ORCID iD.
ORCID iD:n lisäksi on myös muita tutkijatunnistepalveluita, ja tunnisteita voi synkronisoida keskenään. Taideyliopisto tukee ja opastaa ORCID iD:n käytössä.
Web of Science Researcher Profile (formerly ResearcherID) is a researcher identifier service where you can also follow your citations and h-index. You can link the ID to your ORCID.
You can follow e.g. citations of your works through Google Scholar Profiles.
